How Casey + Matt Met
Casey and Matt first crossed paths at UW-Madison before moving to the Windy City to start their careers. Now, they’ve made Chicago their home, and they wanted their photos to reflect not just them but also the city that has become an integral part of their love story. When they told me they wanted photos that felt “vibey” I knew I was the perfect photographer for them.
The Vision for Their Chicago Engagement Session: Edgy & Unconventional
Casey specifically pointed out a filmy vibe from a couples session I took in Budapest, and she wanted that same aesthetic for their session. They asked for something that wasn’t your run-of-the-mill engagement shoot. They wanted it personalized and unlike most engagement photos you typically see – and of course, it had to be as iconic as their love. And honestly, could I be more obsessed with this concept? No, I could not!
Location One: All Together Now
Our first stop was All Together Now, a wine bar they frequent in their neighborhood. The energy was electric; I felt like I was crashing their regular date night – in the best way possible. It was super chill and romantic, and we shot some documentary-style images that perfectly captured their everyday love.
Location Two: Industrial Chic Meets Classic Chicago
For our second location, we wanted something that showcased the industrial chic elements that will also be part of their wedding. We knocked out some killer shots that felt urban, rugged, yet intensely romantic. And get this, we did all of this in just 1.5 hours. It was like playing the Amazing Race, but way more fun (and fashionable).
The Grand Finale: Chicago Theater
To put a cherry on top, we headed to the iconic Chicago Theater. The resulting photos were a perfect fusion of old-school charm and contemporary flair. Truly, a love story set against the diverse backdrop of Chicago.
